Albian Heavy Synthetic

Stream Description

Albian Heavy Synthetic (AHS) is a partially upgraded dilbit produced from the Scotford Upgrader. The Scotford Upgrader is part of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP), a joint venture between Shell Canada Energy (operator and 10% owner), Chevron Canada Limited (20%) and Canadian Natural Resources Limited (70%). AHS is a heavy crude oil, but due to partial upgrading, contains lower sulphur and TAN than unprocessed dilbits and synbits.

Batch: AHS-6135 --- Date: October 02, 2026 --- Sample Location: Edmonton

Other than slightly increased TAN, the October sample of Albian Heavy Synthetic was consistent with historical averages. Simulated distillation results showed a shift from the distillate to the naphtha.
